Have you got a Game & Watch, a Coleco mini-arcade tabletop, a Grandstand Astro Wars or a Nelsonic game watch that you no longer want? At ToysWanted, we love vintage electronic games in all their forms, from handhelds right through to wearable game watches. We buy anything from a single game to a full collection, and if you accept our offer, we’ll cover the postage.
Q: What kind of electronic games do you buy?
A: We buy three related types of vintage electronic gaming:
- Handheld electronic games – the pocket-sized LCD, VFD and LED games you hold in your hands, such as Nintendo Game & Watch Wide Screens and Multi Screens.
- Tabletop electronic games – the larger games that were meant to stay on a surface. Think Coleco mini-arcade tabletops (Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger etc.) and the Grandstand range (Astro Wars, Scramble). Nintendo’s Tabletop and Panorama Game & Watches also sit in this group.
- Electronic game watches – the wearable game watches that were hugely popular in the 80s, particularly Nelsonic licensed watches (Donkey Kong, Mario, Pac-Man, Frogger and so on) and Casio’s game watch and calculator game watch range.
These all come from roughly the late 1970s through to the early 1990s, before cartridge-based handhelds like the Game Boy took over.
Q: Which electronic games do you buy?
A: Some of the brands and ranges we’re particularly keen on include:
- Nintendo Game & Watch (Silver, Gold, Wide Screen, Multi Screen, New Wide Screen, Tabletop, Panorama, Super Color, Micro Vs. System and Crystal Screen)
- Coleco mini-arcade tabletops (Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaxian, Frogger)
- Tomy LSI and Tomytronic games (Tron, Pac-Man tabletop, Caveman, Sky Attack, Atomic Arcade Pinball, Demons of the Deep)
- Grandstand (Astro Wars, Scramble, Firefox F-7, Munchman, Invader From Space)
- Entex Select-A-Game and Adventure Vision
- MB Microvision (with cartridges)
- Bandai tabletop and handheld electronic games
- Nelsonic game watches (Donkey Kong, Mario, Pac-Man, Frogger, Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3 and others)
- Casio game watches and calculator game watches
Boxed and complete examples are always especially welcome. If you’ve got something that isn’t on the list, send us a photo. We’re often interested in things we haven’t listed.
Q: Are my old electronic games worth anything?
A: Often, yes – especially if they’re boxed, complete and in good condition. The market for vintage electronic games has grown strongly over the last ten years, partly through nostalgia and partly because so many got thrown out in the 90s and they’re now genuinely scarce.
Values depend heavily on condition, the presence of the original box and inserts, and rarity. Boxed and complete is always worth considerably more than loose. A boxed Coleco Pac-Man tabletop, a boxed Grandstand Astro Wars or a nice condition Nintendo Game & Watch Multi Screen can all be worth good money. Rarer Silver and Gold series Game & Watches, sealed items or anything in true mint condition can be worth hundreds or even into the thousands!
Q: Do you buy them with the original boxes and instructions?
A: Yes, and we love it when they come complete. Original boxes for these games are often more fragile than the games themselves, so one that’s survived in decent shape is a real bonus. Instructions, inserts, polystyrene trays and any outer sleeves all add value.
Q: Do you buy them without the box?
A: Often yes. A clean loose game in good working order still has real value and we’ll happily take a look.
Q: Do you buy broken or non-working ones?
A: No. We’re only able to buy games that are in good working order.
If you’re not sure whether yours is working, it’s worth popping in a set of fresh batteries and giving it a try. A lot of the time they only stopped working because of flat or leaky batteries and they come straight back to life.
Quick tip: if you’re not planning to use it again straight away, take the batteries back out after testing. These old units are very prone to battery leaks, and a leak can ruin the contacts and stop the game working.
Q: Do you buy reproductions or modern re-releases?
A: No. We only buy original vintage units from the original release period. We don’t buy modern reissues, the recent Nintendo Game & Watch reissues, the Tiger handheld re-releases or any clones.
Q: How will I be paid?
A: We pay by bank transfer or PayPal, whichever you prefer. The payment usually goes out within 24 hours of your items arriving with us.
Q: How do I sell my old electronic games?
A: Here’s the process from start to finish:

- We’ll review what you’ve sent and come back to you with a free, no-obligation cash offer.
- If you’re happy with the offer, reply by email and we’ll send the postage details.
- Pack everything up well and drop it at the Post Office or book a home collection. The postage is on us.
